Name: Zack Luye

Age: 20

Location? What’s street food like there? Columbia, MO – Not very amazing. A few carts. There are some great walk-in places, but I wouldn’t compare that to a mobile powerhouse of deliciousness.

Occupation: Internet Television Host & Producer.

Favorite type of food: I would have to say that my favorite type of food tastes fresh. I love a heaping pile of vegetables. Skillet + olive oil + vegetables = heaven. To be quite honest, though, pita and hummus is probably number one. I want to eat food, not food product.

Least favorite type of food: I love the convenience of frozen food, but the fact that a full meal can be heated from it’s plastic package and be ready to eat in 3 minutes, bothers me.

Favorite street cart of all time? Halal in New York City. The best gyro of all time. I loved watching him cut all the vegetables expertly and cook it right along with the lamb. The selection of sauces they have is great.

Craziest thing you’ve eaten? Are you sure you want to ask me this? Drank from the Hudson River. Random insects for dares, rocky mountain oysters.

Is there anything you won’t try? I’ll give it a go if it won’t harm me. You can always spit it out, right?

If you were to open a street food cart, where would it be and what would you serve? It would be in LA, San Diego, SF, Orlando and Houston. Artisan soft-serve Ice cream. I don’t want to get into too much detail…

Any interesting street food stories? This was a fun time. This cart in particular did not accept debit cards, so instead of the vendor pointing me to the nearest ATM, he called it even for my gel iPhone skin..

Zack at Fire

When did you first have street food? My first real street food experience was an incredible hot dog in NYC. Loaded with fixings. You can’t quite beat an NYC style dog when those hunger pains start sticking.

Got any street food tips? My pals Micah and Lynn (@dfltr and @poshy) can show you the best veggie dogs in Austin, TX. Well worth the search around the city.

Is there anything you’d like to ask your fellow Cartivores? Favorite part of street food? The sauce? Or what the sauce goes on?
