I'm a lifelong New Yorker and have never been to Portland, but would love to try the carts there. As long as they both have good things to offer, let's focus on those good things. Who cares which is “better” as long as they're both good.

Nicely stated, a bit diplomatic. I think you are going to win if you're there to eat, it's nice to have choices and good ones at that. I am re-locating to Seattle and can't wait to wander down to Portland to check out their food. thanks for opening up the door.
