Hong’s Dumplings (Burlington, VT)

Church Street

We had a great time filming at Hong’s, which we found nestled among trees and stores on Burlington’s Church Street. Owner Hong Yu isn’t kidding when she says she likes big dumplings; they’re massive! With fillings like crab & cream cheese or cheese & chicken, they’re were sinful and delicious. As dumplings are my favorite food, I couldn’t be happier having Hong be the first episode about those plump pouches.

Question!!!

Curious – Where have you had the best chinese food experience?

  • ahhhmom
answer to the question, my best chinese food experience(s) is at "Chungs Chinese Resturant in Niles, Ohio honestly this is the best made to order with healthy portions.

in 1991 i became very ill could not eat without getting sick to my stomach. i went to Chungs for some wonton soup and shared with Chung how sick i was. Chung made for me a lobster egg drop soup that not only stayed down and made me feel better soon after i actually had a appetite again. thanks Chung i'll never forget that.
  • What a great story! Thanks for sharing it. Wonder what magic was in that soup!?

Just found your site through Serious Eats! What serendipity! I was captivated with the website and videos. The fact that you featured a vendor from our great Green Mountain State was appreciated! Will pass on information about this site and hope others become fans!

  • Hi, Dan! Just subscribed to your podcast and watched this Hong's Dumpling episode in FULL Mac SCREEN. Those dumplings look intensely delicious. Any place in New York that comes close?
  • Haha! Awesome - we'll have to go get some in the city soon.
  • Bert
She is one hard working lady and deserves all the success in the world.

  • whoa. I drooled on my shirt when I saw this episode. Those dumplings looked awesome!
  • They were Andy! Sorry about the shirt. ;)
  • would have been better full screen
  • I know man - working on it! Should be coming soon. In the mean time,
you can subscribe to the show in iTunes by visiting http://vendr.tv/itunes
and watch it full screen. :) Sorry!
  • Best Chinese food I would say, San Francisco.
    These dumplings look so good.
  • Agreed sir! There's some pretty stellar Chinese in SF. Especially love
Dim Sum mornings neat Golden Gate Park! Nom nom nom. What's your
    favorite place?
  • My most favorite chinese food is my local place Golden Phoenix and they have the most teriffic chicken dish; it's dusted with ginger fried up and served with an anise green onion sauce. They call it "mandarin chicken" but it has no orange as many would think
  • Nice dude - that sounds amazing. You should record some video next
time you're there. I know it's not street food, but hell, I'm sure
    it's delicious!
  • Good episode! My great-grandma lives in Randolph, VT and we have to go straight through Burlington to get there! I must say, Hong's will have to be a stop on the next trip through! Keep up the good work, guys!

    Ken
  • Awesome Ken! Do me a favor - when you go, take some pics so we can put
    them up on the site!
